A question had
been hanging on my mind whether Baba Faqir Chand, who spoke and wrote so much
on inner practices, had really got fed up with all such yogic practices.
It is certain that all divine visions experienced during
inner practices can continue till we exist in the body and till neural activity
continues. What happens after death is a matter of imagination and
entertainment. The fact is that nobody returned after ‘final death’ of heart and brain and did
not reveal his experiences about it. Stories of rebirth are fabricated and
shops keep humming with business.
I got a reference
from Bhagat Munshi Ram’s book ‘Santmat (The opinion of Saints)’. He writes:-
The
soul which realizes the third form of Guru gets liberated in due course. That
is why he (Faqir) has written in his last discourses that ‘he was against inner
practices. Whenever he sat for inner practices he surrendered to that form (Murti).
He sought shelter in that. Intentional inner practices were nothing but a come
back to the region of ego and he used to curse his mind and ask what good it
was for.’ Param Dayal Ji used to explain it in these words:-
“I
have pulled down the sand house”
It is clear
indication that inner practices done intentionally do tire us and a desire to
get rid of them takes us to yet another state though all such stages are
different experiences within neural activity. It is like child making sand house,
playing with it till getting
fed up with it and then again constructing something new.

यह बात मेरे मन पर अटकी थी कि साधन-अभ्यास का आंतरिक
अवस्थाओं पर इतना बोलने-लिखने वाले बाबा फकीर चंद क्या इन साधनों से उकता नहीं
होंगे.
यह तो तय है कि साधन के दौरान अलौकिक और दैवी दृष्य और विभिन्न
अवस्थाओं का अनुभव तभी तक होता है जब तक शरीर है या मस्तिष्क की न्यूरल गतिविधि
चलती है. हृदय और मस्तिष्क की ‘अंतिम मृत्यु’ के बाद क्या होता है यह केवल अनुमान और मनोरंजन
का विषय है. हृदय और मस्तिष्क की ‘अंतिम मृत्यु’ के बाद आज तक न कोई लौटा और न अपने तत्संबंधी अनुभव के
बारे में किसी ने कुछ बताया. पुनर्जन्म की कहानियाँ गढ़ ली जाती हैं और दुकानदारियाँ
चलती रहती हैं.
मुझे भगत मुंशीराम जी की पुस्तक ‘संतमत’ से यह उद्धरण मिला है. वे
लिखते हैं:-
जिस जीव पर उनकी परम
दयालुता से तीसरी मूर्ति के दर्शन हो जाते हैं, उसके धीरे-धीरे सभी बंधन कट जाते
हैं. इसलिए उन्होंने (फकीर ने) अपने आखिरी सत्संगों में
लिखा है कि मैं अभ्यास के विरुद्ध हूँ.
मैं जब कभी अपनी नीयत से अभ्यास करने बैठता हूँ तो अपने आप को उस
मूर्ति के हवाले कर देता हूँ. शरणागत हो जाता हूँ. अपनी नीयत से अभ्यास करना अब
अभिमान में आना समझता हूँ और मन को लानत देता हूँ कि ऐ मन तू क्या कर सकता है.” इस बात को
हुज़ूर परम दयाल जी महाराज इन शब्दों में ब्यान करते थे :-
मैंने अब सब ढेरियाँ ढा दीं.
इससे एक बात स्पष्ट हो जाती है कि नीयत से साधन
करना एक प्रकार की थकान देता है और उस थकान से अलग होने की इच्छा व्यक्ति को एक
अन्य अवस्था में ले जाती है यद्यपि वे सभी अवस्थाएँ न्यूरल गतिविधि के ही अनुभव
हैं. यह लगभग वैसा ही है जैसे बच्चा रेत
का घर बनाता है, खुश होता है और उकता कर उसे तोड़ता है. फिर कुछ नया बनाता है.
